Well, I have finally edited and pieced together a video of the second extension to the railroad.
It shows the track work sitting on the concrete roadbed prior to the ballast being added. This was video taped in November 2007 and shortly after, I landscaped the whole layout to make it more presentable for the open day in December.
I hope you enjoy the video.
Open Day Gift

I forgot to add this to the blog when I posted information about my first open day. I decided to give a small gift to the friends and family members that have either, donated items, or helped work on the railroad.
I purchased some clean skin wine from the local bottle shop and put my own labels on the bottles. The label can be seen in the picture below and shows a scene from the railroad and the date that it was officially opened. They were all pleased to be recognized and proudly accepted the wine, some saying ‘I’m not going to drink this, just keep it as a memento’

First Open Day

Despite the temperature reaching 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit,)around 50 visitors, over the 4 hour period, took the time to see the ‘Frog Creek Railroad’ in action.
The open day went like clockwork, no sooner had one group of visitors departed when another arrived. It was almost like they were waiting out the front having planned who was going in first.
This turned out to be great because I could give the visitors more personalized attention as they were asking the usual questions.
